This chamber-sized string ensemble was captured in a large studio hall playing with mutes to produce a long con sordino articulation. The library includes three microphone signals and a bespoke atmosphere layer produced from the original samples.
Blueprint: Gentle Strings follows on from the third library in this series, Gentle Winds. This time, we have recorded a chamber-sized string ensemble in the large main studio at The Nave. The library features mutes on the strings, playing the long con sordino articulation- resulting in a soft cinematic sound that is commonly used for scoring.
THE INTERFACE
Dynamics
Control the dynamic layers via the mod wheel / CC1.
Colour
EQ effect to change the brightness of the overall sound.
Atmosphere
Control the level of the Atmosphere Layer and press [S] to solo it.
Reverb
Control the level of reverb with further settings if you click on the cog.
Mic Mix
Individually control three different mic signals at different distances from the instruments. Mute [M], Solo [S], and Purge [⏻] each signal. Adjust the perspective to easily control all Microphone signals.
Settings
Click the cog for additional Tightness and Dynamic Settings, as well as global Attack and Release controls.
SETTINGS
Tightness
Control the amount of pre-roll before each sample. In this library the pre-roll contains the sound of the bow beginning to vibrate the strings before the note is heard, resulting in a more realistic sound.
Dynamic Range
Control the volume difference between soft and loud dynamics.
Attack
Change the attack envelope which controls the volume at the start of the sample.
Release
Change the release envelope to change how long the sample takes to fade out.
