DreamSynths The Amazing Synthillator Poly4 VSTi v1.0 free WIN 32-bit) (2009) (rare) is a 4-Osc synth with VA, FM, PD, 2 LFOs, Sample & Hold, 4 Envelope Generators and lots of modulation routings, kind of a semi-modular. Can sound sorta like a CZ-101 & SID, too. Seems really easy to program and has some galactic sonic wonder!

(includes the @djKoSMiX Amazing Synthillator Poly4 Universe 2020 Soundbank)
From the text description:
VSTi to use with the Novation ReMote SL, so that the GUI mirrors exactly the layout of the ReMote SL's controlls. Of course it  can also be used by anyone even without the SL or any other controller synth.
Also a 12/24dB State Variable Filter, Filter keyboard scaling, etc, etc.... Everything is there to interact/modulate with almost everything else -- you're not forced to choose between PD or FM -- it's PD FM'ing another oscillator, or PD syncing another oscillator, among other possibilities... Also, I decided it would be a 4 oscillator per voice synth so that one can have 2 osc synced voices when one wants synced osc type sounds -- this way one can detune one pair of synced oscillators against the other pair and so avoid the usual thinned out quality of synced oscillators. This way one can, for example, make "strings" type sounds out of 2 pairs of synced oscs, and sweep them with the mod wheel, among other things (try preset #07stringy monoSolo. for an example of this).

Thanks to @djKoSMiX

If the only controllers you use when playing are the keyboard, PB and mod-wheel, then the arguments about 'which is better - hardware or software' were settled about a decade ago: neither!
But what are regarded as the classic 'sounds' of vintage synths are often less about oscillators and filters than about the expressive qualities brought out by legendary virtuosi tweaking parameters in real-time as they played.
Midi-mapping a synth to a generic control surface can get you part of the way there.
But as we can't have dedicated controllers for every synth we own, surely the next best thing would be for more synth developers to design instruments around popular hardware.
This synth does just that.
As does @Mira-Katharina's wonderful  Matrix 8000 http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plu...00&id=1350 (with the ubiquitous BCR 2000).
And I think there may have been one based on the Evolution UC-33, though I can't remember what it was.
Are there any others?
And why so few?

Thanks Bam - and @djKoSMiX for the patches.
