The 10 Band Graphic EQ is a versatile equalization plugin with ten selectable frequency bands for precise adjustment of the audio content within 6 or 12Db range.

Each of the ten frequency bands allows the user to cut or boost specific audio frequencies according to the particular demands of the audio material to work from. The 10 Band Graphic EQ can deal with many sorts of applications, wheter to remove low frequency rumble from overprocessed audio tracks or to restore high or low frequency content from weak audio signals or just to add that little extra that misses in. Autopan Modulator



The Autopan Modulator is an effects processor designed to work around the stereo field of any given audio source.

It can be programmed to make your tracks bounce from side to side of the audio field with several modulation options at your choice. If anyway you want to keep it simple, it will allow you to do so manually. It’s not too much to say that this effect has its own character and can impart some very cool vibes to your sound. Autospread Box



Autospread Box is a stereo processor, applying a small amount of delay into one of the audio channels, inverts it, and then adds some modulation to achieve its distinguishable sound.

If you’re in need of a subtle stereo enhancement processor with rhythmic characteristics, then this is the effect for you.

It is important to know that this effect is only intended for stereo use and will work best on audio material with no relative difference between the left and right channels (for example any unprocessed sound where the sound in the left channel is exactly the same as in the right channel as in a dual mono signal). However if you feed it with any kind of processed sound where the left channel sound content is different from that on the right channel, the resulting sound will be so subtle that could lead you to think that its not there at all, but if you happen to turn the effect on and off, you will hear the difference.

Keep in mind that this is an effects processor that works on the subtle side of things but nevertheless it can impart some interesting vibes to your sound, as so experimentation is a must. Have fun.

Chorus +



Chorus + is that sort of dense and harmonically rich chorus that you are very likely to encounter on some older (80s) synths.

It’s a no brainer plugin with a few controls on for a lot of juice. It’s packed with two flavours at choice, sort of mild and strong, nevertheless if tweaked harder may go from strong to well... Sort of sickened modulated type of sound. (Yes really sick at times). Enough said, just have a play with it and see if you enjoy its spice…

Please notice that the Chorus+ is intended to be used as a Stereo insert plugin, if however the plugin is inserted in a mono track it will be processed into only one side of the audio channels thus making the “Phase” function unnoticeable.

The Chorus Box unit is a typical chorus effect with the addition of extra waveforms that are by tradition not used in regular chorus units such as Saw, Square and Random.

Compressor Box



The Compressor Box is a dynamic processor in a way that it takes the input signal and limits or compresses the input signal dynamic range by limiting its amplitude above a variable threshold value and depending from what is set in the Ratio and Gain controls.

A practical application is to boost soft or weak sounds and to soften loud sounds with plenty of transients. Take for example an electric guitar or bass signal where normally not all the strings have the same output level, by applying some compression the musician or sound engineer could equilibrate the volume balance between the strings and make the overall sound more tight and consistent. Take another example, if you take a sound source of any kind that is subject of producing audio peaks of some sort, (for example a percussive sound with lots of transients) then the compressor if tuned right could smooth out the same audio peaks avoiding undesirable high volume kicks therefore making it more balanced in a mixing or live situation. As you can see there are some practical situations where the use of a compressor is a desirable and a practical option if not a true necessity at all.

Drivefactor is an input sensitive Overdrive / Distortion plugin offering various clipping modes from soft clipping to more extreme distortions.

Flanger Box produce a typical flanger sound, but this unit could do nice chorus and comb filter sounds too.

A selection of five different waveforms are available to this unit, the first two Sine and triangular will work for the typical Flanger/Chorus modulation sound and the other tree Saw, Square and Random are more suitable for rhythmically oriented modulations. Phasers



Synthescience phasers includes 2 vst effects: Phaser Box and Phaser 2/8.

Phaser Box is built around a series of Low and High pass filters in cascade to imprint that notched phasey sound.

Phaser 2/8 is built around the classic All Pass filter design with selectable phaser stages between 2 to 8.

Both includes some features such as a selection of 5 different waveforms. Sine and Triangular are most used in traditional phaser units for that smooth modulated sound. Saw, Square and Random are more suited for a rhythmical feel. A Wave invert and a Phase adjust knob are also included (contributing to a stereo spread feel).

Prodigious



The Prodigious synthesizer is based around the design of a famous synthesizer of the past.

Enhanced with a few extras that perfectly complements its original vintage character. The concept is rather simple, two oscillators that can be self modulated by a third non audio oscillator (FM synthesis capability..) one fat 24db lowpass filter with self oscillation capabilities (and with the possibility of being modulated by the second oscillator, flexibility increased), dedicated envelopes for filter and volume countour, a powerful and flexible arpegiator for those moments where the fingers are simply not that fast (just kidding..), a chorus effect section with three distinctively rich chorus modes (to ticken up things a bit) and to finalize a delay unit to bring out those spacey sounds to the front. It is fully midi automatable too...

R-Sample Factor



R-Sample Factor is a combined Sample rate and Bit depth reduction plugin.

It’s not at all a sound enhancement processor but rather the opposite. It is aimed at recapturing the essence from the old days of the early digital sound processing units and it does it well indeed. So if at times you happen to find your sound to be too polished and want throw some grain and grit into the sonic equation just wire it up into the R-Sample Factor plugin and sit back cause your about to enjoy (literally..) the comeback of the primitive digital sound era.

Symphonic Ensemble



The Symphonic Ensemble is a Vst plugin inspired on the Chorus/Ensemble modules found on some very well known vintage Strings Machines.

It is a special kind of Chorus in the way that employs three independent stages of chorus linked in parallel, modulated at a different phase and rate each, and then mixed with the original sound to impart that so much characteristic Strings Ensemble sound. It is a far more richer effect than chorus by itself and it can instantly turn any harsh or dull waveform into something organic and alive.

Initially and because this was an effect only found on strings machines, some may say that it is most vocationed for synthesized sounds but using it on guitars can be very rewarding too, as for other sound materials?, well its up to the users taste of course, but here experimentation is a must. The controllers are very few, meaning that with little tweaking you can get "That" sound right there on the spot.

The Filtermate



The Filtermate was built as a Rhythmic Filter module, it is designed for making automated or non-automated filter processing to any given audio material that is fed into it with just the minimum of controllers.

It can almost instantly animate your tracks in a way that could make it quite an indispensable tool in your virtual studio. Basically it consists on a Clock driver that animates an Lfo (Low frequency oscillator) which is coupled to a multimode filter and a mixer, a design very often found in the filter section of many vintage synthesizers (with some extra tweaks here and there), but this time as an independent plugin for you to tweak at your own will.

Very nice to see the Synthescience instruments and effects all together... very good work by this developer, sad to see they did not keep going.
A few odd glitches sometimes, and the GUI is maybe small for some, but the effects are practical and useful (without trying to be overly fancy), and the synths show a lot of care was put into their sound; don't make the mistake of thinking they are just more clones, they have their own sound.

For a couple of years after its release (2009?) Prodigious was one of those synths I kept on returning to, but always found a little disappointing somehow. Then around the time of 2106's release, Prodigious also got something of a makeover - and started to sound exactly the way I'd always imagined it should!
The developer also had a couple of other synths 'in the works' at the time of his disappearance, and the FX bundle was a clear statement of intent.
But I guess a 'Donate' button on a website rarely brings in enough even to cover the cost of hosting, much less encourage a developer to feel his efforts are appreciated.
Add to that the increasing demands for x64 plugins (even at the time of its release I saw the FX bundle referred to by the all-too-familiar term 'Synthedit crap') and the dire economic situation in Portugal, it's hardly surprising he dropped off the map.
He did return, briefly, with a blog on a free website - but it was a far cry from what had been developing on his own domain, and didn't last long.
Another of those extremely talented developers I fear we may have heard the last of. But if you're reading this, Marco - I hope things are going well for you, and: Thank you.

Last week, I was working on a Synthwave project in REAPER, and decided 2106 would be perfect in it; I'd found a good preset to tweak- but it kept crashing, just as I was about finished adjusting parameters.
I'd delete the instance, reload it, and try again- only to have it crash again

I looked at his posts on KVR, but the last one was from 2014. Was he snatched up (as some developers are) to work for a larger company, maybe?
The only other free VST/VSTi developer from Portugal I'm aware of is Miguel Santos, AKA Dr. Speaker Blower/Ourafilmes.. I doubt they know each other, but I might ask just in case.

Since there's nothing that quite sounds like, or operates like Synthescience plugins, I echo your sentiment:
Marco, Thank you for your hard work- I wish nothing but success and prosperity for you, and I hope you will reappear soon!
