I don't suppose VSTHost counts as a DAW ... ?
But it's what I spend most of my time using!
Also, after nearly 20 years using Cubase, about 3 years ago I bought Mixbus (which was then audio-only) for mixing (what else!). But I realised that I could used VSTHost in slave mode as an FX plugin - and haven't used Cubase since! I no longer record (let alone edit) MIDI, and record everything as audio - 'direct to tape', as it were - in Mixbus/Ardour.
The current version of Mixbus now has MIDI and VSTi support, and after a very (very!) buggy initial release, is now very stable. I've upgraded (at just $40, I couldn't resist!) - but I still record everything 'the old-fashioned way'.
New tech - old skool!
